How to Size an Oversized Anime Hoodie (cm and Inches)

Torazen Godspeed Lightning Aura Vintage Hoodie

Torazen hoodies are cut with room in them already. The vintage hoodie is an oversized drop-shoulder blank, so your usual size is the oversized look, not a size below it. Sizing up is a choice about how boxy you want to go, not a requirement.

The reliable way to choose is not the letter on the label but a hoodie you already own, laid flat and measured. Every figure for all three blanks is below in centimeters and inches.

Three hoodie blanks

Every pullover and zip in the archive is made on one of three blanks, and the product page names which.

Vintage hoodie — 32S cotton at 270gsm with a vintage wash finish, pre-shrunk. Cut oversized with a drop shoulder: the shoulder seam is designed to sit down the arm rather than on the bone. Most of the hooded artwork in the archive is on this blank.

Classic hoodie — 52% cotton / 48% polyester fleece at 380gsm with a plush fleece interior. A relaxed cut, and the heavyweight option.

Zip-up — two different blanks share the name, a 270gsm washed cotton with a raglan sleeve and a 380gsm combed cotton with a set-in sleeve. They measure differently, so they get separate tables below.

Vintage and classic hoodie measurements

The vintage hoodie and the classic hoodie are cut to the same measurements, size for size. People expect the oversized one to be bigger on paper; it is not. A size M of either is 61 cm across the chest, 72 cm from the high point of the shoulder to the hem, 62 cm across the shoulders and 58 cm down the sleeve. What differs is the cloth.

Chest is the garment laid flat, underarm to underarm; double it for the circumference.

Size Chest (cm / in) HPS length (cm / in) Shoulder (cm / in) Sleeve (cm / in)
S 59 / 23 70 / 27.5 60 / 23.5 56 / 22
M 61 / 24 72 / 28.5 62 / 24.5 58 / 23
L 63 / 25 74 / 29 64 / 25 60 / 23.5
XL 65 / 25.5 76 / 30 66 / 26 62 / 24.5
2XL 67 / 26.5 78 / 30.5 68 / 27 64 / 25
3XL 69 / 27 80 / 31.5 70 / 27.5 66 / 26

Each size step adds 2 cm to every column. Hold that number in your head when deciding whether to size up.

The 6 Paths Vintage Hoodie, the SkullKnight Vintage Hoodie and the Godspeed Lightning Aura Vintage Hoodie are all on this chart.

What changes on the classic hoodie

Same numbers, different garment. The classic hoodie is 380gsm cotton-polyester fleece with a plush fleece interior, against the vintage blank's 270gsm washed cotton, so it is heavier in the hand and warmer on the body.

Sharing a chart, the sizing logic is identical: your usual size is a relaxed fit, one size up is oversized. The difference is how the extra room behaves: fleece at 380gsm holds its shape and stands away from you, washed cotton at 270gsm drapes closer.

The Death Surgeon Hoodie, the Genesis Hoodie and the Thorfinn Enemies Hoodie are on the classic blank.

The two zip-up blanks

Vintage zip hoodie — 32S cotton at 270gsm with a vintage wash, relaxed with room to layer. The raglan sleeve runs in one piece from the collar to the cuff with no seam on the shoulder point, so the chart gives the raglan seam rather than a shoulder width, and the sleeve is measured from the collar. That is why it reads 77 cm at S rather than the pullover's 56.

Size Chest (cm / in) HPS length (cm / in) Raglan shoulder (cm / in) Sleeve (cm / in)
S 59 / 23 69 / 27 26.5 / 10.5 77 / 30.5
M 61 / 24 71 / 28 27 / 10.5 80 / 31.5
L 63 / 25 73 / 28.5 27.5 / 11 83 / 32.5
XL 65 / 25.5 75 / 29.5 28 / 11 86 / 34
2XL 67 / 26.5 77 / 30.5 28.5 / 11 89 / 35
3XL 69 / 27 79 / 31 29 / 11.5 92 / 36

Classic zip hoodie — 100% combed cotton at 380gsm, a standard fit that is true to size. Set-in sleeve, so the shoulder column is the usual seam-to-seam width and the sleeve runs from that seam.

Size Chest (cm / in) HPS length (cm / in) Shoulder (cm / in) Sleeve (cm / in)
S 60 / 23.5 70 / 27.5 65.5 / 26 56.5 / 22
M 62 / 24.5 72 / 28.5 67.5 / 26.5 57.5 / 22.5
L 64 / 25 74 / 29 69.5 / 27.5 58.5 / 23
XL 66 / 26 76 / 30 71.5 / 28 59.5 / 23.5
2XL 68 / 27 78 / 30.5 73.5 / 29 60.5 / 24
3XL 70 / 27.5 80 / 31.5 75.5 / 29.5 61.5 / 24

Do not read the raglan shoulder figure against any other blank's shoulder column: one is the length of a diagonal seam, the other a width across the back. Compare a raglan zip only against a raglan piece you own.

Both Berserk zips, the Dark Eclipse Zip Up Vintage Hoodie and the Sacrifice Zip Up Vintage Hoodie, are on the vintage zip blank. For any other zip, the product page states which blank it is cut on.

How to measure a hoodie you own

Pick the hoodie whose fit you like most, zip it, and lay it flat with the sleeves out. Four measurements, matching the four columns:

Chest. Straight across from the bottom of one underarm seam to the other. It is a flat width, so half the circumference: a vintage hoodie in M at 61 cm flat gives a 100 cm body about 22 cm of ease all the way round.

HPS length. HPS is the high point shoulder, where the top of the shoulder meets the collar. Measure from there straight down to the hem, not from the back collar seam, which sits lower.

Shoulder. Across the back, seam to seam. On a drop-shoulder blank that seam is deliberately down the arm, so a wide number is the cut working as intended.

Sleeve. From the shoulder seam along the top of the sleeve to the end of the cuff. On the raglan zip, follow the seam from the collar instead.

Find the row whose chest is closest to your hoodie's, then check length. A match on chest that runs 4 cm shorter will feel cropped, and that is the mismatch people notice first.

Sizing up vs true to size

Because every step is 2 cm on every column, sizing up is predictable: 4 cm more around the chest, 2 cm more length, the shoulder seam 1 cm further down each arm, and a sleeve 2 cm longer.

Stay true to size for the relaxed, layerable fit the pullovers are cut for, if you are between sizes on an already oversized blank, or if sleeve length is your limit. Sleeves grow with the body, and 2 cm more on a sleeve that already reaches your knuckles cannot be fixed.

Size up once for the boxier, dropped look, or to wear it over another hooded layer. The fit note on both pullover blanks says the same thing: size up for oversized. One step is usually the whole answer.

The classic zip is the exception. It is a standard fit built true to size, with the widest shoulder of the three blanks. Size up only if you would on any regular-cut garment; between sizes, the larger is the safer pick.

Before you order

These are the same measurements published on the sizing page in both inches and centimeters for every blank in the archive. If the size is wrong on arrival there are 14-day returns and size exchanges from delivery, and shipping is tracked; measuring first means you rarely need either.

The hoodies sit inside their franchise collections: Naruto, Berserk, Hunter x Hunter and Evangelion each carry several.
